The men’s 1s travelled to Bicester through heavy traffic and, in some cases, a hot and sweaty 2s game.
Slow out of the blocks against a well-drilled Bicester side, some sloppy defending saw Tring 2 goals down early on and needing to regroup.
Fortunately the game was split into quarters giving Captain Cobby the chance to rally the troops. There was a much improved showing in the second quarter and some tactical changes further firmed up our defence.
Chances were created and not finished, including a p-flick missed.
There were some clear signs of rust including the skipper forgetting the ball had to go 5 before entering the D (he maybe went 1 and a half), and Finn picking up the first green card of the season for a deliberate foot that a chorus line would have been proud of! But, we battled to the end. With key players missing and more training to come it bodes well for the upcoming season. Bring on Berko next week!
