I hope you’ve all had a great summer and are getting ready for the coming season. With the new pitch progressing well, it’s promising to be a fantastic year. We’ve shared a number of build updates and hope they’re adding to the excitement.
Thanks to Luke for running the fitness sessions – there’s one more this Wednesday if you can make it.
Following the EGM, subscriptions have been confirmed. Unfortunately, after many years without change, we’ve had to make a small increase to reflect rising costs. England Hockey now requires all players to be registered on GMS, so please complete this if you haven’t already: secure.whostheumpire.com/signup.php/.
For those playing on an ad-hoc basis, captains will collect a match fee to cover insurance and pitch costs (up to a maximum of three games per season), or alternatively, the £45 social membership fee can be paid via Pitchero, which includes England Hockey membership and insurance
I hope this is clear, but do reach out with any questions. I look forward to seeing you all soon!

THC EGM Minutes – Meeting held Tuesday 26th August 2025
Meeting called to order 19:30
Attendees
Ian Grainger, Claudia Edwards, Chris Barnes, Greg Edwards, Rob Brown, Ryan Dyson, Chris Powell, Tom Grainger.
Apologies for Absence
Ralph Darvill, Ian Swift
The Chairman, Ian Grainger, welcomed everyone and thanked them for attending.
Membership Fees
The committee discussed the proposal to increase membership fees to £375 for adults and £250 for juniors.
It was noted that this increase does not take into account the likely rise in pitch costs due to resurfacing at Tring School, which is expected to be introduced next year.
For the current season, the club has agreed on a fixed annual cost with Tring School.
It was also agreed that occasional players will be required to pay £15 per game (up to a maximum of three games per season) or alternatively the £45 social membership fee to cover England Hockey membership and insurance
After further discussion, the committee agreed that the membership fees for the season will be £380 for adults and £250 for juniors.
Proposed by: Greg Edwards
Seconded by: Chris Barnes
Club Shirts
The issue of shirt availability was raised.
Chris Powell is continuing to investigate potential alternatives.
He will contact Richard at Chiltern Sport to obtain a high-resolution version of the Tring Hockey logo, as the club does not currently hold one.
Training
Chris Barnes suggested introducing a rota for trainers so that it is clear who is leading each session, ensuring time is used effectively.
Ryan Dyson added that training sessions could be shaped around the strengths of each trainer, with different areas of focus each week.
Facilities
Greg Edwards noted that while the club now benefits from a new pitch, the goal posts remain old and may need replacing.
Actions Agreed
Chris Powell to follow up with Richard at Chiltern Sport regarding the club logo.
Committee to review membership fees again once Tring School confirms future pitch costs for next season.
A rota for trainers is to be drawn up.
Options for updating or replacing the goal posts to be considered.
Ian Grainger thanked everyone for their contributions and closed the meeting at 20:50.
